The Archon’s held their annual retreat with Metropolitan Nathanael as their key note speaker. The group of nearly 30 individuals engaged in fellowship while learning about their Faith, and reinforced their commitment to their ministry.
The Family Synaxis Ministry hosted their Men’s Retreat February 22nd-23rd at the retreat center. The retreat was led by Dn. Perry Hamalis and had over 30 men in attendance from across the Metropolis. Sessions and overnight stay took place in the log lodge as well as the Tomaras Lodge.
The Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) rock stars enjoyed another weekend of Faith and fellowship during their regional retreat February 22nd-24th. The retreat was led by Fr. John and Presvytera Rallis and over 70 students were in attendance.
The Salt and Light group from Marquette University hosted a religious retreat for about 25 of their students. The students had an engaging retreat while growing their relationships with God and each other. The group stayed in the cottages and utilized the log lodge.
The OCA (Orthodox Church of America) organized a national facilitators training program for creating and sustaining vibrant peer learning groups for Orthodox clergy and clergy wives. Dr. Albert Rossi was the keynote speaker.
The ladies from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Justice, IL stayed in the log lodge at the retreat center for a cozy and rejuvenating retreat February 8th-10th. They enjoyed fellowship and education over a fire for a beautiful experience.
The fabulous ladies apart of the Southeast Quilters of Wisconsin have returned for an exciting weekend of extreme quilting. This group transforms the downstairs area of the Tomaras Lodge to a hub of quilting stations for over 25 people.
Over a dozen parishioners from St. Paul Coptic Church stayed in the main lodge during their retreat February 1st-2nd. The group enjoyed each other’s company while learning and growing together.
The Family Synaxis Ministry hosted a wonderful Women’s Retreat January 25th and 26th where they stayed in the Tomaras Lodge. More than 30 women from across the Metropolis gathered for an inspiring and uplifting retreat lead by a Metropolis of Chicago native, Mother Macrina from Holy Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction, MI. The women were able to reconnect with friends and connect with new faces during a peaceful yet fun retreat.
Fr. Sotiri led a group of his youth at an overnight retreat. The group stayed in the Tomaras Lodge and utilized the log lodge.
St. Paul’s Catholic Church hosted over 100 youth at their retreat January 18th-20th in the Tomaras Lodge and Log Lodge. This large group enjoyed the company of their peers while learning and growing in their faith.

The St. Iakovos Retreat Center celebrated the feast day of the Chapel of the Life-Giving Spring (Ζωοδόχος Πηγή) on April 13, 2018. The liturgy celebration was attended by many from across the metropolis. It was also the first visit of His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanal of Chicago to the St. Iakovos Retreat Center.
